Are there any famous lost swords... The answer to all this (and more) is "Yes". On the lost swords angle, it would not be hard to have swords and ships whose aural conditioning detects when their family line has died out or become lost. The Clans would program these swords to look for sui...

I think one of my main issues, however, is coming up with all the neat tech to give these people. <snipped. It's easy to make up enchanted armor and legendary swords, but how do I make something sound tech? Space Opera is basically High Fantasy with spaceships. You are onto something in asking &quo...

Re: Generic Weapon Templates

I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to find a common template set for weapons. This would only cover the basics, so that customization isn't restricted too badly. Its a good idea. Let me think on it a bit, though. Some weapons may have altered impacts depending on the setting. A game based on...

Setting Idea - "Rocketship Ronin"

Here is a write-up of an OVA game concept I have been tossing around. I always do a kind-of "series bible" approach to developing a game to give me the idea of the setting color as well as the game information. As you can see, there is nothing here to tie it to a system as of yet, and OVA...

Re: Robots in Disguise! Why and how ...

But now comes the slightly trickier part: One of the pivotal characteristics of Transformers is that they ... well, transform ... into cars, helicopters, tanks, planes. Those would all be vehicles, and we have the Vehicle ability! Just as a character who is a servant wouldn't buy "Servant"...

Re: Biggest act of RPG Nerdom

Today, I found an endtheme for my OVA marching band/sentai campaign. I condensed it to make a "TV Version" and plan to roll credits via Powerpoint when the sessions end. I have picked an opening theme for a game recently (that was supposed to be a TV Show anyway), and would have done a fl...

Re: Powersuit Mecha Writeups And More

Hi all, I ran a pretty interesting post-apoc mecha game yesterday influenced a bit by Appleseed. Sweet! Love Appleseed and like what you did as far as the template builds. I am working on a game with magical helicopters (odd, I know), and they have several "kits" of weapons systems that b...

Whips and such can be used to have both an entangle attack and a normal attack. Since this is the primary use of such an attack style in fiction (nets being a close second), I don't understand the exclusion.

Ha! This one quote has redeemed your players in my eyes.

Sounds like they had a good time whacking evil for fun and profit.

Yes, they could lose their next action, but my players didn't want to. Any other character could, yes, but the example characters didn't want to. Understood, but I think they missed a chance for some real heroic fireworks. My only point was that it takes only one of them to finish the deal.....

You can't Counter in this example because, technically, countering is a Defense action, and they've already acted this round. (thus, forgoing their ability to have a defense action due to the Rapid Strikes attacks). Couldn't they just lose their next action to take the defensive action of counterat...

Re: Cover vs. Rapid Strikes

It sounds pretty good to me. Cover should count for something (also, drama dice, miracles, etc) and this is as good a way to handle it as any. Now, as a player, I would consider one of the group taking one for the team by doing some "counterattack" action. Provided the designated hero wins...

Lucky Star

What an oddly charming anime!

Built in the essence of the must-see "Azumanga Daioh", but with a very different tone.

Anyone else watching this?

I did not want to trouble you with this, sensei. You looked so cute meditating that I was lothe to wake you...er... I mean "stir you from your meditations".

Forgive my insolence, sensei.
