Exalted conversion?
Has anyone attempted to convert the setting of Exalted into OVA? Doesn't seem like it would be that difficult, honestly. I think I might throw a quick conversion together at some point.

Re: Exalted conversion?
OVA (rough quickstart) Exalted character creation rules
NOTE: These are starting defaults, all Exalt types may gain
more Ability points by taking extra weaknesses. There are no
set rules for Castes or Aspects, but those may be reflected by
Ability choices. New abilities are mention here, and will be detailed in a following post.
All Exalt Types have the new weakness Anima Banner. Dragon-Blooded, Sidereals, and Alchemicals possess it at -1, all others at -2.
--Solars/Infernals/Abyssals
10 Ability points, 10 points of Weaknesses.
--Lunars
8 Ability points, 10 points of weaknesses, automatically gains
Lunar Shapeshifting at +2. Only Lunars may take this ability.
In regards to Deadly Beastman Transformation, if you keep it in
reserve and use it for emergencies only, represent it with the
Transformation ability. If it is your default method of combat,
simply use your normal stats and fluff the transformation.
--Sidereals
8 Ability Points, 8 points of Weaknesses. Sidereals must take
at least rank 1 of the Restricted Freedom Weakness, and may
take ranks in the Resplendent Destiny and and Sidereal Astrology
abilities if they choose.
--Alchemicals
6 Points of Abilities, 6 points of Weaknesses, but gain 1 free
rank in the Implants ability, and may change out the abilities
granted by Implants after any period of downtime as long as they
have access to proper facilities.
--Dragon-Blooded
5 points of Abilities, 5 points of Weaknesses. The Assisted ability flaw is worth -20 rather than -15.
--Exigents:
Base Zero, possibly including Unique abilities or
weaknesses to reflect to the nature of the deity that Exalted
the Exigent in question.
--Getimians and Liminals
Not allowed until more is known about them.

Re: Exalted conversion?
I'm a little bit confused here.
You're suggesting that different castes have a certain number points of abilities/weaknesses?
One of the trickier parts of OVA is that it doesn't really matter how many abilities you have, as long as you have a certain amount of weaknesses to balance it, with the default being that you just need a difference of 5 points between Abilities and Weaknesses. So one character could have +15/-10, another could have +8/-8, and another have +12/-17. If you can swing it, even +50/-45 is considered balanced.
As far as I can tell, real gauges of power level is a greater difference between Abilities and Weaknesses; 10 point difference instead of 5, or 20 point difference. I've even wondered if this could be translated as a type of character level. A character's level is equal to their difference between Abilities and Weaknesses. A character with +1 point difference is equal to 1st level character, a character with +5 point difference is a 5th level character. Of course, that mostly works when the Ability total is greater than the Weakness total.
Probably what I'd recommend is to make a basic package for each Caste: a +10/-10 for Solar, a +5/-5 for a Sidereal (I'm just guessing at numbers, here), and assign appropriate Abilities and Weaknesses that generally describes the Caste (even or especially unique Ability and Weakness. Then a player can add up to 5 points of Abilities to make their character unique, or even add more Weaknesses for more than 5 Ability points.

Re: Exalted conversion?
You make a good point. How about this:
+/- 10 points for Solars/Abyssals/Infernals
+/- 5 points for Lunars/Sidereals
+/- 5 Points for Dragon-Blooded, but they use Scaled Costs rule.
Also:
Rather than figure out exact rules for every Caste of every Exalt type, I'm just going with the idea of "Oh, you want to be a Night Caste? Just build your character with Solar rules, put some of your points in Art of Invisibility, Quick, and maybe even regular Invisibility, and there you go, Night Caste."
+/- 10 points for Solars/Abyssals/Infernals
+/- 5 points for Lunars/Sidereals

Also:
Not quite sure what you mean by that question. What I'm saying is, for this conversion, there is no strictly enforced mechanical difference between, for example, a Dawn Caste Solar and a Night Caste Solar. Dawns are warriors first and foremost, while Nights are sneaky and stealthy. You're suggesting that different castes have a certain number points of abilities/weaknesses?

Essentially, what you got here:Zealot Vedas wrote:Not quite sure what you mean by that question. You're suggesting that different castes have a certain number points of abilities/weaknesses?
So if everybody has 5 points in Abilities plus the points for their caste, then Solars/Abyssals/Infernals will be total +15/-10, and Lunars/Sidereals would be +10/-5.Zealot Vedas wrote:+/- 10 points for Solars/Abyssals/Infernals
+/- 5 points for Lunars/Sidereals
+/- 5 Points for Dragon-Blooded, but they use Scaled Costs rule.
Which is fine for the most part, just something I'd think would need to be clarified. I'd again build some templates that are basic overall abilities of each caste, so a character could then add Abilities and Weaknesses to customize their character.

Re: Exalted conversion?
Actually, how do Charms work in Exalted. From what I understand, it's what make the Exalted awesome.
In my mind it's like a stunt in FATE Core/FAE. A stunt of FATE converted into OVA can be done by adding the accurate perk with the requirement flaw to an ability.
Am I right?
