Private Message Spam

On the 2 and 17 this month I was PMed by user Lyagushkka some spam about XRumer. This is the Wikipedia entry on it. Don't run a search it; apparently someone wants you to up its search ranking, and Lyagushkka is a robot in disguise (gasp!).

I just want to help anyone else who has this problem, and I don't know how to report PMs.

Only today, I received the very same PM. While I didn't open it (and generally don't accept spam messages from unknown senders), I think this whole scheme is really annoying because when I get a note that I have a PM from a message board, I think it's something urgent from a friend.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately it happens, and while I try to prune obvious spammers, when they don't make a post to the forums publicly, they can sometimes fly under the radar.

In any case, I've deleted this user, so you shouldn't get any more PMs from that bot, at least. I went ahead and made a scan of other recently registered users with suspicious details and deleted them as well.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

'Twas sent on Mon 1 Feb 2010 at 12:52 & 22:38 (GMT-11 hrs); the MiB in question joined the day before, so it flew under the radar.
