I have run two sessions(the first one was a simple session to acclimate them to the system) like that. I have to say that my players didn't appreciate the strict formula.

Your characters sound a bit like a sort of deconstruction of the genre. Maybe check out Puella Magi Madoka Magica series, or the trilogy movies, as possible ideas on how run your story. You seem to make a game of epic scope. Did you mod the game ? By modding,, I can mean something simple as creating new abilities/weakness or did you change how the difficulty ladder ?

Actually, how do Charms work in Exalted. From what I understand, it's what make the Exalted awesome.
In my mind it's like a stunt in FATE Core/FAE. A stunt of FATE converted into OVA can be done by adding the accurate perk with the requirement flaw to an ability.

I have to second you. OVA is fun. I enjoy throwing a truck load of dice. The background of the PCs are kind of part of the character sheet. The story is integrated into the stats.
