Errata Question

Well, I haven't been around to this site for a while. I guess I was too busy playing OVA. :)

But anyway, the new adventure release drew me back for a bit, and while checking around, I happened upon the errata list.

Most of the stuff was self-explanitory, but two things stand out: "The rules concerning the use of Drama Dice have been modified. Endurance used to gain Drama Dice is no longer recovered in the conventional manner."

and

"Unnatural Resistance and Unnatural Weakness have been modified. They now cover characters having a Strong or weak Point in addition to simply being resistant or vulnerable to a kind of damage."

That's all well and good, but since since RPGNow won't let me download the revised pdf, I'd kind of like to know eactly how the rules changed.

I asked about this myself when I first read that, but I can't find the post where we talked about it >.<

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to go off of memory: Any End(urance) spent on "Drama Dice" are never recovered at the end of stressful situations. IE, once spent, the End is gone for a long while. This was to avoid characters spending ALL End on rolls where there was no drama, and getting a nearly guarenteed success. So any End spent on Drama Dice is regained when the GM says so.

As for this one, depending on what versions you have, it is already updated. The one that I downloaded from RPGNow has this clarification "built-in" as it were.

Hope I've been of help!!

No, I don't have the rules for the second question, and thanks for the answer to the first.

OVA wrote: Unnatural Resistance - Your body is especially resilient to a specific kind of damage, such as fire, electricity, or chi, or an attack to a specific area of your body. At Level 1, for every five points of damage you receive, ignore one point. For each successive level, reduce the damage taken by one. Level 2 would be four points of damage, ignore one.) Level 5 would be 1 for 1, essentially invulnerable to that kind of damage.
Boldface mine, but that's what my copy says for Unnatural Resistance. As for Unnatural Weakness:
OVA wrote: Unnatural Weakness - Your body is especially vulnerable to a specific attack, be it a certain kind (fire, electricity, chi), or one directed at a weak point. At Level 1, for every two points of damage you receive, add an additional point. At Level 2, you receive an additional point for every point of damage, and at Level 3, you receive 2 additional points for each point of damage.
Again, boldface mine, but it was just added in so that you can represent those weakspots. Well, tough spots, for Unnatural Resistance.

For an example of Unnatural Weakness in action, see my thread about Zombies...sorry, shameless plug ^_^

Hope this has been helpful!!

Thanks for handling this, Pherret. I've been out and about for the past sum of days and haven't had the chance to reply to forum posts.

Everything TBP said is correct, so you can consider it canon. ^_^

Though I am curious...When/where/what version of the product did you purchase? Although the Emergency Dice rule change is unique to the distribution version of the product, the material on Weak Points should exist in all PDFs and print products purchased since July of 2005. If it's still popping up unmodified somewhere, I'd like to know. ^^

In any case, I will be updating the PDF to be on par with the distribution version soon, and include a few additional changes like the long standing typo of how many points you can spend on mecha. (It should be 2 per level, not 1).

I bought the pdf and the first edition of the book. I use the book for most stuff.

Well, at least now my players can't pull a miracle every scene to kill stuff. "40 points; I hit him with the Wallmart  " comes to mind.

Oh god no! I've already purchased the RPGnow version in print, and the distribution version. This would mean I have to order a third copy off RPGnow.

I guess I'll just give over one or two of my copies as christmas pressies. Hopefully get more people eager to play. :D

Doesn't rpgnow send you an email with the updated pdf linked in it? I think they've done that for me several times over the years.

Yes, they do. ^^ Well, rather, I click a button that sends a notice to everyone. However, if you have set your account to not receive mail from RPGnow, I believe RPGnow will include product updates in the ban.

I have the 2/05 PDF. When I signed on to my RPGNow account, there was a notice saying an update and provided a link to download.

Man it's a good thing I left my flash drive at home at Thanksgiving or else I would've wasted 100+ pages on an outdated version :3
