Question about multiple actions

Post by wuxiasnake »

From the section about multiple actions (pg. 82):

"Normally, you are limited to making one action in a combat round. You can, however, take a penalty to your rolls to make two (or more!) actions. A Penalty equivalent to the total number of actions being made is applied to all actions. Although Defense rolls do not count, since they are free actions, they are subject to the same penalties."

I'm finding the wording kinda ambiguous. I've always considered that multiple actions do penalise your defence but on re reading this section of the rules i'm no longer certain.

My take on this is that, while Defense rolls are NOT considered actions, they are still penalized as "regular" actions are.

If I'm wrong, may Clay strike me down (AKA, tell me I'm wrong ^_^)

That's correct. All it means if you take two actions a turn, but roll defense once or twice, there are still only two actions, not 3 or 4, to account for. You still receive a -2 to all your defense rolls.
