Damages

Post by jakk9000 »

Hi I was wondering how does damage work exactly? I am getting lost on some of the details like Strong, Martial Arts, and Power Moves...

Oh, it's very simple. These are the basics:

1) Attacker rolls his dice to hit.
2) Defender rolls his dice to not be hit.
3) If the attacker's roll is equal or less than the defender's roll, he misses.
4) If the attacker's roll is greater than the defender's roll, he hits.
5) If the attacker hits, he causes damage times the number of points over the defender's roll.

Example: Character A is attacking Character B with a Weapon +2. Character A rolls an 8 to attack. Character B rolls a 6 to defend. Character A hits by getting 2 above Character B's defense roll. Character A causes 6 points of damage.
(Weapon +2) + (minimum damage of 1) x 2 = 6

However, Power Move has a set damage determined by its level, and you don't factor in minimum damage. Using the rolls above, Character A is going to use a Power Move +2 (5 damage) instead of a Weapon +2. In this case he causes 10 points of damage.
5 x 2 = 10

Strong adds to damage in melee attacks.
Martial Arts adds to damage in unarmed melee attacks.

If your character had Strong +2 and Martial Arts +2, and he hit a villian with an unarmed martial punch, getting 2 over the villian's defense roll, you would cause 10 points of damage.
(Strong +2) + (Martial Arts +2) + (minimum damage of 1) x 2 = 10

I hope this clears things up?
