How would you handle something like a sleeping effect?

Post by Cloud »

A player wants to create a sleeping bomb or potion she can use for infiltration missions and what not. Any thoughts on how you would handle it?

Something like paralyze or stun could work.

Perhaps make a 'unique' perk that extends the effects of paralysis outside of combat scenes a number of 10 minutes x the number of times this unique perk is purchased? Cost maybe (5)

That could work just make sure that it breaks on damage or else it would be crazy OP.

Ah, good point... Maybe we will start there and see if it works out.

Paralyzing is definitely the way to go. I think any effect that can last longer than a few rounds is basically unfair, and moreover, unfun.

If you want to handwave a longer effect outside of combat, that's fine, but inside combat, think of it like video game RPGs. Sleep happens for a few rounds or until someone forcibly wakes them up with a good whack.

Make it work like normal sleep after the effect has run its course. If there is still a fight going on, they wake up. If they have been left in a comfy chair in a quiet room they might sleep for a few more hours.
