Antagonist and Horde Generator

Post by Malancthon »

I've been tweaking and refining my NPC ideas, and I think I've gotten them to the final version. Please feel free to use and critique this as you will.

Basic Antagonist Stats
Health: (1d6+4)x10, Endurance: (1d6+4)x10, Roll: 1d6+1, DX: 1d6
-Bosses have their Health doubled.

By default, an Antagonist is assumed to have whatever Abilities and Weaknesses makes the most sense, without actually needing to record those Abilities or Weaknesses. The Antagonist uses their Roll value for any and all dice rolls, such as Initiative, Attacking, Defending, or using an appropriate Ability. Alternatively, a GM can apply an NPC Fragment (see pg 142-144) to the Antagonist to determine their Abilities. The Antagonist does not use their Roll stat for those Abilities, instead the Antagonist uses the default 2+Ability level for the dice roll.

Modifying Stats
Sometimes a 1d6 roll can provide either too variable of a stat or potentially too powerful of a stat. A 1d3 can be substituted, often with a different addition. For Health and Endurance, a 1d3+1 can provide an appropriate total for a Secondary antagonist, while a 1d3+3 can provide an appropriate total for a Heroic antagonist. For lower skilled antagonists, a 1d3+1 can provided an appropriate dice pool to roll. And for the Damage Multiplier, a 1d3+1 can provide an appropriate DX for low threat antagonists, a 1d3+2 for moderate threat antagonists, and 1d3+3 for high threat antagonists.

Random Antagonist Type (roll 1d6)
1- Extra Antagonist Health: (1d3)x10, Endurance: (1d3)x10, Roll: 1d3+1, DX: 1d3
2- Secondary Antagonist Health: (1d3+1)x10, Endurance: (1d3+1)x10, Roll: 1d3+1, DX: 1d3+1
3- Minor Heroic Antagonist Health: (1d3+3)x10, Endurance: (1d3+3)x10, Roll: 1d3+1, DX: 1d3+1
4- Major Heroic Antagonist Health: (1d6+4)x10, Endurance: (1d6+4)x10, Roll: 1d6+1, DX: 1d3+2
5- Minor Boss Antagonist Health: (1d3+3)x20, Endurance: (1d3+3)x10, Roll: 1d3+1, DX: 1d3+2
6- Major Boss Antagonist Health: (1d6+4)x20, Endurance: (1d6+4)x10, Roll: 1d6+1, DX: 1d3+3

Horde Stats
Health: (1d6+4)*x10, Roll: (1d6+4)*/2+1, DX: (1d6+4)*
*Use the same result for all three stats.

Roll 1d6+4 once. This determines the number of members in the horde, which is used to determine the Health, Roll, and DX stats. Each individual member of the Horde has 10 Health, so when the Horde loses 10 Health, the number of Horde members is lowered by one. Roll is equal to half the number of Horde members, to a minimum of 2d6 (so 4 or less members will always have a Horde roll of 2d6). A Horde can attack every character once per round regardless of the distance between characters, but cannot attack the same character more than once per round. A Horde does not use Endurance or have an Endurance stat, as all of their energy is spent in performing the horde combat.

Horde Encounter (starting members 4+1d6)
1 member- Health: 10, Roll: 2d6, DX: x1
2 members- Health: 20, Roll: 2d6, DX: x2
3 members- Health: 30, Roll: 3d6, DX: x3
4 members- Health: 40, Roll: 3d6, DX: x4
5 members- Health: 50, Roll: 4d6, DX: x5
6 members- Health: 60, Roll: 4d6, DX: x6
7 members- Health: 70, Roll: 5d6, DX: x7
8 members- Health: 80, Roll: 5d6, DX: x8
9 members- Health: 90, Roll: 6d6, DX: x9
10 members- Health: 100, Roll: 6d6, DX: x10

Most Hordes are made up of Extra NPCs. If a more powerful Horde is needed, the members can be upgraded to Secondary NPCs. Each individual member of the Horde has 20 Health, so when the Horde loses 20 Health, the number of Horde members is lowered by one.

Horde (Secondary) Stats
Health: (1d6+4)*x20, Roll: (1d6+4)*/2+1, DX: (1d6+4)*
*Use the same result for all three stats.

Horde Encounter (starting members 4+1d6)
1 member- Health: 20, Roll: 2d6, DX: x1
2 members- Health: 40, Roll: 2d6, DX: x2
3 members- Health: 60, Roll: 3d6, DX: x3
4 members- Health: 80, Roll: 3d6, DX: x4
5 members- Health: 100, Roll: 4d6, DX: x5
6 members- Health: 120, Roll: 4d6, DX: x6
7 members- Health: 140, Roll: 5d6, DX: x7
8 members- Health: 160, Roll: 5d6, DX: x8
9 members- Health: 180, Roll: 6d6, DX: x9
10 members- Health: 200, Roll: 6d6, DX: x10

Seem pretty strong for solo games, but a normal party of 4~6 players can deal with those.
