So since I've been watching it, and trying to figure out how I might represent it's shenanigans in a game system...

Anyone have thoughts on how to do the cast of Kill la Kill?

Sixth Sense: Lucretia is aware of when she is about to be consciously noticed, or is being currently observed. She knows from which direction, how far away, which sense is being used, what the general emotions are and whether something like a camera or microphone is being used. However she can't detect some watching a recording of her so delaying a camera 1 second defeats this. Also experienced spies and warriors are aware of this phenomena since it is common to everybody Lucretia just has it to ridiculously accurate and sensitive levels. Once someone figures out she does this, which isn't easy, they can attempt to force themselves to think of her like the terrain to defeat the sense. She primarily uses this for avoiding attention and deciding tracks to take to deceive people.

Polyglot: It is not known how many languages she speaks and reads. Most of them are spoken with bad grammar, but that may be a deception.

Electrical and Heat Sense: She can see active electrical currents and heat sources. Including the human nervous system and brain which she occasionally uses to read people. The heat vision generally only comes on in areas where there are frequent temperature shifts. She has occasionally had internal monologues wondering why people make cold things blue. And why lightning is blue or yellow since to her cold doesn't look at all like blue...it looks like cold.

Wealth: Lu has a fair amount of money from a lawsuit over her vivisection while in prison. She's actually rather frugal with it though she tries to appear irresponsible.

Quirk: Avoid Past Lovers 1

Kind-Hearted 2
Obsession: Traditional Dress Cosplay 2
Quirk: Never touch the ground but don't outright reveal flight. 1

Conflicting Vision: Lucretia's electrical and hear vision conflict with her normal vision. She can't read monitors or devices that display information electronically, making many 2035 cell phones, TVs, computers and movie theaters somewhat useless to her. In areas where there are temperature fluctuations (such as outside with some wind) she has trouble reading paper and books (despite her love for history books) because she just sees a flat sheet of material. She claims to suffer from dyslexia, but the nature of her difficulties reading are clearly not dyslexia.

Many Faces: It isn't clear what exactly Lucretia's true personality is. Quite often around friends she comes across as a sarcastic, cynical, crass bitch. Around children she turns into the kind big sister. While on the job she is the respectful employee (up until you request a research aid and ignore her advice). A lot of the time she oozes sexuality, stating that only amateurs have to show skin or touch people. At other times she acts the injured doe. It is quiet likely that Lucretia doesn't even know what her inherent nature is. Some of these personality shifts are deliberate masks, but other times they just happen. In some cases, she may be telling herself it's a mask when it really isn't.

Political Games: Lu lives and breathes deception, but she hates when people play petty, stupid and blatant political games. For example, someone doing a report about how peaks (superhumans) are stealing jobs will get a lecture from her about the tiny percentage of peaks and a detailed history of the manifold geopolitical incidents that led to current problems. It's uncertain whether she's most offended by the lack of skill or the actual dishonesty.

Vibratory Attacks and Joint Breaks: Lu's skin firms up moments before it receives an impact. Unfortunately this leaves her more vulnerable to open palm strikes, strikes depending on carrying vibrations and attacks that turn the joints against themselves.

Alcoholism: If she starts drinking, she won't stop eventually she start looking for a sexual partner of either gender. The next day the actual events will be missing from her memory but she will throw away whatever clothes she was wearing (claiming that the smell of a former lover will scare people off) and will likely never talk to the person she slept with again unless she has to (claiming she got what she wanted).

Rude and Loner: Lu often deliberately tries to piss people off so they will stay away from her.

Cosplay: All of Lu's clothes are high necked, long sleeved dresses with a hemline low enough to hide her feet (and the fact that she isn't actually touching the ground) however, she maintains several expensive costumes that are representative of various traditional dresses. This ranges from a Victorian look to a kimono, a 50s poodle skirt outfit, Korean hanbok, Native American and Arabic clothes. She doesn't wear veils or head coverings though, noting she won't hide her status as a fallen woman. These all tend to be sexy outfits but show very little skin. She often tries to use her cosplay to fight the urge to drink. Since she knows she'll end up throwing away whatever she's wearing the next day. Of course, if she is wearing basic work clothes, this doesn't work.

Physical Contact and Exposure: despite her claim of not needing to touch or show skin to seduce someone, Lu actually fears such things. To the point to where she admitted to herself that she literally couldn't tear her dress to make a bandage for her hands.

Transformation: the colder it is, the more powerful Lu is.

Combat: Lu is a master street thief, a canny manipulator and a promising historian. But she is a nearly hopeless fighter. It might be a mental block since she shows large amounts of physical ability in other cases, but she is more likely to lose a fight against, say, a bigoted garbage man than win.

Probably overstated some of her capabilities, I have that issue when doing fictional characters to RPG stats. Especially my own characters. Easier to reduce to a core when it's not my character.

from El Goonish Shive

It should be noted that the combat-heavy characters get less use out of those stats than in most games since the webcomic is primarily slice-of-life with interruptions of superheroic nature.

Ellen is a magical girl-form duplicate of Elliot when Elliot tried to cure himself by touching the Dewitchery Diamond

Ellen's and Elliot's magic started to wake up sometime after the incident that created Ellen.

Ellen's magic is based on various sorts of beams through which she can change herself or others.
Elliot's magic is currently based on turning into a girl.

They'll start generating new spells based on their character developments. They both started with spells related to Elliot having been transformed into a girl. Ellen has moved on to other things but Elliot just keeps getting more flexible ways to become a girl (some of which modify his personality slightly). There are various theories as to why Elliot is stuck with girly-morphs.

Elliot gets extremely mad at homophobia despite not being homosexual himself (though he becomes a girl, so...weird). He's stated in the past that he finds the idea stupid and has lost friends over it in the past. I assume Ellen, being a bisexual but mostly lesbian copy of Elliot, has the same tendency.

Elliot is less outgoing than Ellen and less likely to put forth his own ideas about what would be fun to do. When he was dating Sarah, she made all the decisions about their relationship (despite her desire that he'd take some initiative of his own). His lack of initiative is part of why they broke up. Since the break up he's been working on this, including asking out Ashley without being prompted by somebody to do so. He's not particularly, dull, oblivious or air-headed...he just far too easily goes with the flow without even considering there's another way. He's relatively perceptive about other people, but not himself.

Ellen also has memories from an alternate universe version of herself. As such, despite the fact that her body has never experienced such things, Ellen herself remembers having sex and getting drunk during high school. She knows the difference between the alternate reality memories and her original for the most part, but still, it's awkward sometimes when people bring up things like getting drunk or having sex. Plus not many other people understand the whole magic nose beep memory grant that caused all this, so she prefers not to talk about it.

Ellen and her girlfriend, Nanase, have taken to solving mysteries. It started as a whim but have kept doing it and gotten some limited fame from it. Elliot's fame is from the internet movie review show he does with Susan.

Tedd is a master at creating various gizmos for analyzing magic and for creating transformations ranging from gender-changes to species changes. He was recently granted a magical mark that lets him change his own default gender or apply variations to his default male/female form based on his current desires. He is also apparently able to change other people's genders and feels confident that he can invent something that will even change their DEFAULT gender, which he is nervous about. He also recently discovered that he has a supernatural intuition about magic. He gained this knowledge by watching himself when trying the magic mark...his intuition intuited both the change and his intuition. Tedd has recently been told what "gender fluid" means and is elated that there is a name for his gender identification issues.

Since dating Grace and hanging out with people beyond Sarah and Elliot, Tedd has matured a lot...though he is still slightly lecherous.
Tedd has a tendency to get hyper devoted to new things until he gets tired of them. He is terrified of this happening to him over his studies into magic. He also tends to make use of whatever transformational invention or ability he has whenever he can find an excuse, more than once changing genders in mid-sentence during a conversation and spending the day as a catgirl just because.

Grace is referred to as "the most ridiculously overpowered person in Moperville" and its probably true. Especially when she dips into her transformational ability (which is bought as Arcane Magic focusing on transformations because she has a TON of different transformations and can mix and match them to make more as she desires...she can basically use any transformational effect that has been used on her and mix and match it with those already acquired). Grace is also one of the people in the cast who is the least willing to fight out of the lot. She is someone everyone else wants to protect despite her level of power. She has also been raised without exposure to the world, so discovering things like World War II happened was devastating to her. She can do complex calculations in her head no problem and she tends to think of that as a power more than she does her shapeshifting...which is just a thing she likes.

Grace likes the same transformation games that Tedd does, though she has less lecherous thoughts involved.

Grace has recently been getting training in martial arts from the same master that taught Elliot, Nanase and Justin. The idea being that this will give her something in between total pacifist and emotionally triggered berserker kill everything rage. (not that she has killed anyone...the one case she blames herself for a death occurred when her opponent killed himself)

Sarah is Elliot's ex-girlfriend (they broke up and remained friends after Sarah got frustrated with his lack of initiative and Elliot realized he saw her as a sister). Sarah is one of the few normal people left in the crew and desperately wants to get magic powers of her own. She's recently been helping out Tedd with lab assistant work in exchange for magic-powered gadgets. She quite often has the most common sense of the group, though sometimes that is Susan.

Susan (Tiffany S. PomPoms) is a dour young woman who has been growing more emotional of late. Her introduction to magic was a traumatic experience and changed her from a lively but skittish young girl into the bitter and angry young woman she is now. Her interactions with Tedd, Elliot, Sarah, Grace and everybody else have caused her originally cheerful personality to begin to surface again. She has recently stopped being emotionless and dour and turned much of her energy to find out what she truly wants out of life. Amongst this is her recent efforts to get used to physical contact (most dramatic so far is the fact that she managed to pat Sarah on the head once). Susan is heterosexual and has had bad luck with her crushes so far, first Justin, who is gay, and then Elliot, while he was dating her best friend. She has sense decided she doesn't want to date until she figures herself out, even if that means going through high school without ever having a date. She is smart, not Tedd or Grace smart, but smart.

Susan has magic related to summoning objects, especially magic weapons. However, that was from a magic mark originally and she has since fully awakened as a magic user so she might have other spells by now...she hasn't been checking her spell book to see if a new one has shown up. She can summon one of Nanase's pixie dolls, this doll acts out her subconscious and she usually uses it for fetching soda from the fridge or other such things.

Susan is unaware that she has a twin sister from whom she was separated at birth. However, due to her magic awakening, she's now several inches taller than her twin and has dark blue hair instead of blonde hair. Her twin sister Diane, however, has figured it out, though her reaction to this revelation has yet to be seen.

Nanase is probably the most dangerous of the characters in the cast, though Grace is the most powerful. An out and out martial arts goddess with full on magic powers, Nanase can usually plow through any threat that comes to the crew. She recently recovered from a six month burnout of her magic powers after using a Guardian Form to protect Ellen from a wizard intending to kill her. Nanase is adorably easy to get flustered when someone brings up her relationship with Ellen, especially if Ellen is suggesting something risque to do. She gets equally angry if someone starts harping on the relationship in a negative way. Also, her temper and behavior get extremely erratic while she is hungry...and she seems to eat a lot, apparently a lot of her magic is burned off of her calories. Most of her spells are based on stealth, trickery and secrecy since she spent a long time hiding the fact that she was a lesbian from her mother. She wants non-sneaky spells, and was been a bit willfully blind to the fact that she might possibly have to stop being sneaky in her life if she wanted non-sneaky spells. She's now on an honesty kick and wants to tell her mother that she has magic too, despite the fact that she's been told not to. (though her mother already knows and just doesn't want Nanase to realize she knows)

Justin is a long time friend of Elliot's and Nanase's. He also went to the same Anime Style Martial Arts Dojo as they did. He's had a crush on Elliot for a long time, since Elliot rescued him from some homophobic bullies, but he's let that go given that Elliot is heterosexual (and now a part-time lesbian). He is consistently the single most level-headed of the main characters and can often be found giving relationship advice to the others. He is openly gay after one of his old friends accidentally outed him (she confided in her sister and her sister told everyone). He formerly couldn't even bare to be in the same room as her (which wasn't helped by her own compulsion to treat his sexuality as a phase he was going through whenever he was in the room...away from him, she's perfectly lucid). They've both been making some progress on repairing that friendship. Most recently, Justin has been shown to have developed an interest in a newly introduced character named Luke who has come to a card tournament at the comic shop to investigate Justin. Justin's fame comes from his confrontation with a fire-creature alongside Elliot's Cheerleadra superhero form...he was captured on several cell phone videos and spread across the internet. He's tried to pass off the aura of his magical attack as coming from the fire guy and the strength of his attack to the fire-guy not being very heavy.

I second seeing some writeups for Kill la Kill. Maybe I’ll have time do a few myself one of these days...

A little trivia: the “Experience Epiphany” rules were directly inspired by a few of Ryuko’s mid-battle evolutions for Senketsu.

Also thanks for the write-ups, Thrythlind! Always great to see diverse characters statted up.

Okay, going to try to do some of the characters for Divine Blood

Going to set myself some boundaries to keep myself from getting too bogged down with individual story events and stick to the core of what's at least been revealed so far.

Civilian students +5 to -5, Maximum 25
Battle-Tested students +10 to -5, Maximum 30
Veteran Adults 15 to to +0, Maximum 35

I'll just do Class 3B for now. Divine Blood is my novel/short story series with an ensemble cast.

Backscratcher of Imminent Beatdown: AR: 4, DX 2, End: 0
Accurate, Weapon, Will Attack, Fatiguing
This battered steel item replaced a plastic backscratcher she had loved as a younger kid, given to her by someone acting on behalf of her parents, or at least her father. It is talisman of confidence for Yooji and a weapon of fear for the Bravura Academy student body. Even seeing her level it off her shoulders into pat it into her other hand is bad news.

Korean Lesson: AR: 5, DX: 4, End: 10
Will Attack, Fatiguing, Effective x2
It is widely accepted that if Jeon Yoon-Ji has decided that you will learn a Korean word or phrase it is because she wants you to know how to beg for mercy properly. This particular bluff takes a lot of toll on Yooji's nerve.

Group stare down: AR: 5, DX: 4, End: 10
AoE x2, Concentration, Activation, Will Attack, Fatiguing, Effective x2
Another fatiguing threat and bluff that she generally saves for extreme situations.

***********

Adopted by a Korean technology magnate for publicity reasons, Yooji spent most of her life raised by her adoptive father's wife, a woman who hated Yooji's European blood and her royal purple hair color. Her step-mother only struck her once, but heaped emotional abuse on her while still holding to a demand for perfection.

Eventually, the stepmother convinced Yooji's adoptive father to have her enrolled at Bravura Academy, an elite boarding school for international students in Australia. Once there, she found it was also being attended by a friend from the international middle school her mother had enrolled her in because "it would be fair competition to place you with other half-breeds and barbarians."

This friend, Amber Lot, dragged Yooji into the world of high school politics, and eventually Yooji became the Student Body Vice President. After an incident where she successfully bluffed a bully, her reputation for a real bad-ass started and grew to the point where it is now a lie so large that she expects it to fall apart and coming crushing down on her at any moment. After she thought that happened with the coffee pot incident that shut the whole school down for two weeks and got her banished off campus (though not off of her position somehow)....but all it did was make her reputation that much bigger with the students. She's never trusted coffee makers since.

She thought her life couldn't get any more complicated until her third year of school at Bravura when the Path of the Golden Dawn came to capture her, and hide their goal by hijacking the entire third-year class. A parallel attempt by four rogue Gods to kidnap another student in the same year, a recently reincarnated Demoness of importance complicated things as it brought in her bodyguards on the situation. Likewise, there were several other teenagers both with powerful skills of their own and connection to powerful people.

In the aftermath of the rescue she woke up in an hospital backed by the mercenary group Avalon which had taken part in her rescue and told that she was a Visionary and that the Path of the Golden Dawn likely learned of her existence and that of other psychics because she had been subconsciously dropping her memory into the collective unconscious of all visionaries and their own had picked up on the information.

So now she's faced with the existence of psychics, secret societies, Gods and Demons and having to keep it all secret even from her oldest friend. Meanwhile she trains with the regional commander of Avalon, another Visionary, to control her abilities so that at least she might be able to live a normal life...assuming the Dawn forget about her, that is.

Personality: Yooji is a kind-hearted person who tries to conceal her frustrations and fears under a facade of cynicism and anger. It's not exactly a facade she enjoys, but given the number of people she has bluffed out of a fight, she fears that dropping it will get her to lose treat. Paradoxically, she still worries about this even in the light of being targeted by a three hundred year old secret society.

Yooji is not prone to backing down even when she's aware that she can't follow through on her threats. Part of this is because of the example of her stepmother, who she has never seen backdown from any undertaking. The other part is because she refuses to leave the people that depend on her out in the cold.

While Yooji doesn't get nose bleeds, she has been known to get heavily and blushingly distracted whenever Damir or Sergeant Whelan Connor decide to do their exercises where she can see. Since they both live in her house off campus.

Yooji realizes that Eija is a bad-ass psychic with training in both branches of sorcery, high and low magic, feng shui, martial arts and other such things. But she's also aware that Eija is a battle-scarred girl who doesn't really want to live a life of conflict. She has conceived of this idea of getting both Eija and Damir out of the line of fire by setting them up as a couple and getting them acclimated to normal life....given Yooji's own lack of experience with a love life, this is likely to be interesting.

Visionary: Visionaries have a basic understanding of the physical and metaphysical laws of the universe, handling the intense amount of subconscious information that flows into them by connecting with the minds of other Visionaries to share the processing burden. Before she was aware of this, Yooji sporadically connected to the mindscape and suffered sleeping disorders, massive headaches and occasional momentary blackouts, she was able to get only minimal benefit from it. However, she has the sort of true intellect and education that make being a Visionary more than a parlor trick.

As a further note, Visionaries will eventually heal from any wound, including brain damage and severed limbs. Genetic material seems somewhat unnecessary for them, so they rarely have issues with viruses either. Unfortunately, genetic therapies and enhancements are not always effective either and bacterial infections as well as parasites are still dangerous. However, they often develop cancers that result in their expected life-span to be 60 years rather than 90 years of most humans in the Divine Blood Earth.

Amber Lot is the omnifriendly Bravura Academy Student Secretary. She is everybody's friend and always has the best in mind for everyone around her. She has a lovely German boyfriend in the senior class and many other friends besides. She has known Yooji since middle-school when she attended the same classes in Korea while living with her brother.

Amber Lot and Karl Raske control much of what rules the lives of the student body. They've never cheated, never felt the need to. Both are very charismatic and canny about controlling public opinion without needing to micromanage, threaten or other such things. Some people know about how much they control the school and don't care. Others consider their current situation simply practice for later in life. Still others find it frustrating but admit they do a good job. But most students just aren't aware of it. Amber and Karl themselves never admit to their manipulations even when directed at each other.

Personality: Amber is a major otaku who believes there is no such thing as too much anime. She often makes comparisons of situations in real life to those in anime (especially after the recent hostage taking thing). She is uncannily aware of what goes on around her, though it is hard to tell since she treats everybody more or less the same regardless. To date, the only person she has expressed ire toward is Yooji's stepmother.

When the attack lands it doesn't deal damage right away. The damage will be triggered by some physiological effect such as adrenaline. If delivered from stealth, the target might not even know they've been killed until its too late. Eija can perform this for either lethal or merely debilitating effect. However, if she is aiming to kill, her death-seer senses allow her to know when she's succeeded in placing a killing blow.

Defense: 5
Health: 40

Eija doesn't know who her other parent is, but she knows they were a God. Unlike most people, she has two sorts of Life-Force, human chi and something that she only recently discovered was Godly mana when the rogue Gods declared her brother to be the son of Zeus and implied that his sisters had other parentage. This is a relatively new revelation and something she doesn't know how to react to yet.

Though she remembers her mother as a young child and the bitterness and anger that filled the woman then. It got better after they met Dr Njaladottir. Eija tries not to think about the circumstances for how her mother came to meet the doctor. Unfortunately, it was probably a defining moment in her life. She had been ten years old, a cult had kidnapped her, intending to perform a ritual of low magic to steal her powers and imbue them into something or someone. Her brother and sister had rescued her and she had used her own limited skills to kill several herself. However, the knife blow still landed, she still has the scar from where it just missed her heart. Fortunately, the doctor was passing as her siblings carried her out and managed to somehow to save Eija's life. Then the clever blonde icelandic woman became her mother's lover and her mother seemed to learn to be happy.

That was when Eija's interest in medicine really began, before it was just a field that death-seers usually learned something about. However, it was also then that she began to find it difficult to function around strangers. She would find herself planning out exit strategies and attack plans in case they attacked her, fighting that urge to fight her way free resulted in crippling panic attacks that she's only recently been getting some hold of.

At the same time, that was when her "leak" started. When the people around her began to feel the presence of the guiding light and the passage to the afterlife that was attached to every death-seer. It terrified some people, made others see her as a threat that needed to be handled and only a very few people were able to ignore it right away, even her siblings needed to acclimate themselves to it at first. Though her mother said it felt something like "standing next to a window looking on home" which makes her worry that her mother has a death wish sometimes.

She at first thought that Bravura Academy would be another horrible attempt at attending school, especially with her mother suggesting the school split her and the other two triplets across three classes. However, then she met Damir and Yooji and Amber. Through Amber she met Karl and Jason. And she's gone to movies and participated in a school debate...which was rather odd, especially when they asked whether she preferred werewolves or vampires...but still fun. She was starting to think that a normal life was possible for her. That she could pursue a career as a common medium like most other death-seers. Or maybe as a medical professional, an exorcist healing supernatural curses. Her mother suggested that the supernatural would be public in her lifetime as well. Perhaps she'd be a medical doctor, death-seers had a talent for such things, and she knew of more than a few universities frequented by the Community. Or a cook or artist or housewife. Something safe and normal where she never had to kill anyone ever again.

But then the hostage crisis happened...and she fell right into matters of life and death. Something her mother had never wanted for them (they were still forbidden to come on her more dangerous jobs), but which kept seeming to come for them anyway. She'd always heard demigods were cursed to horrible lives, maybe it was true. That's why she thinks it would be best if Yooji and Damir were a couple. Damir deserves someone stable and Yooji would need some protection the way her life was going.

Magic: Eija's magic represents four actual sorts of training. Two branches of sorcery and two branches of magic

Channeling: Supernatural martial arts, blasts, auras, enhancements. The less common branch of sorcery studied. Eija has mastered how to cloak herself, but hasn't focused on channeling the way her siblings have.

Shaping: Ritualistic shaping of her own Chi or Mana to achieve various effects. Much more versatile than Channeling, and useful in a host of practical ways used by civilian shapers all the time, but it takes a lot more time, effort and calculation. As she is considering being an exorcist, dealing with curses natural and deliberate, Eija has studied this more than channeling.

Low Magic: Magic is the skill of borrowing the inborn Talents of other people. With mortals this requires a viable genetic sample, usually blood which is used to make various potions. Most magicians are highly respectable, but Eija is one of the few people to have been subjected to its misuse, when some magicians tried to borrow her powers permanently, by killing her slowly and tortuously...she understandably is reluctant to deal with this skill, though she knows some potions for granting portions of her death-seer ability temporarily.

High-Magic: Eija is limited in practicing high magic due to the Semezou Curse, but she does know more than a few healing spells and a few other assorted things. High Magic borrows power from the Gods and Demons and comes with a price. Eija prefers White Magic and dealing with those Immortals allied with Nirvana, where the price is granting the source of the spell knowledge of your perceptions and thoughts for the duration of the spell. High-Magic is far quicker than shaping or low magic and far more versatile than channeling, which is combat oriented anyway. Also, high-magic gives her access to healing abilities beyond those of shaping or medical knowledge...abilities she'd otherwise have to be born with to use.

Semezou Curse - When using abilities with the affinity of High Magic, all spells have a minimum Endurance cost of 5 and cost an equal amount of Health when used. Bruises that appear to be signs of whipping, strangling or scourging appear as she casts the spell.

Death-Seer: Basically, Eija can see and talk to ghosts, recognize immortals and get a vague sense for a person's lifespan if their medical condition does not change. However, Eija has trained beyond that. She can seal or disperse ghosts (though she prefers not to sense it's temporary and makes it harder to gain their trust afterwards) She can see how a particular person has dealt or witnessed death. She can see when a person is suffering from a terminal condition and use it to guide her limited medical knowledge to save their lives. She can also see ways that a body is vulnerable and use that to more easily end someone's life. For the more active uses of the Talent, Eija's eyes appear to fill with blood and become totally red with no sclera or pupil visible. Eija does not like to do this unless she has to because it allows her to see the blood on her own hands and those of her family. She is able to tell the difference between a murder (black splotch) and a killing of necessity or war (red) and can see signs of guilt (pink).

Bizarre Appearance: Death-seers always have red irises. They also generally have almost black or almost white skin regardless of ethnicity and white, red or black hair of a shade that is far more vibrant than normal. Eija has deep black hair, red eyes and almost white skin.

Photophobia: Not a fear of light, but a physical reaction where bright lights cause actual pain. Eija uses sunglasses to prevent herself from having to worry about it.

Not a Goth: Her natural appearance has many assume that she is part of the goth culture. She finds this annoying and it can trigger something ranging from frustration to anger to an anxiety attack depending on the situation. The Bravura goth population is split on whether Eija is something real or else just a poseur trying to garner attention (like most of them, though they won't admit that.) Most of those thinking she's real have guessed things wildly off target like the idea that she's a vampire or banshee queen.

Damir Milos has been on battlefields since he was eight years old. Unlike the Semezou Triplets, who've mostly only faced danger when it's come for them and have had the misfortune to be targets, Damir has lived as an active soldier. Though lacking supernatural skills, he is more dangerous than Eija and even Deimosu. Naiki is the only one of the three that is likely to have an even chance.

Damir started his career as a child soldier manipulated into the service of a Croatian Liberation organization with the promise that his elder sister would be safely delivered out of the Eastern European warzones, preferably for America. That organization was destroyed though he later found out that they had never followed through on their promises and his elder sister was sold to some other organization. For a time, Damir was an independent getting jobs by avoiding meeting clients face to face. He somehow acquired a skill for piloting an upright and came to the attention of Avalon when he was recruited by Captain Gaetana Trolleti who claimed that she owed him her life for something in the past.

Avalon's attitude toward child soldiers, especially ones as experienced as Damir, is to employ them rather than attempt to socialize them in the normal manner. Despite this, Damir sometimes suspects that Captain Trolleti wants him to live a more normal life. His most recent assignment is evidence of that. While the Avalon Table collective grounded his unit for a short time, the leader of his unit and their third member were assigned to bodyguard one Jeon Yoon-Ji while he himself was assigned to learn how to assimilate into civilian society...presumably for undercover purposes. He is having troubles adapting to high school and its rather strange culture as well as the seriously low security standards of civilians in general.

However, he has taken on to himself the task of protecting both Eija and Yooji. This is not a comment on Eija's ability, he has seen her in action now and considers her a worthy soldier, but all of her confidence seems to vanish when she is placed in a social situation. He can understand it, given he finds such things strange himself, but she becomes much shakier when dealing with people that she is not sure of. Yooji, of course, is to be protected for her connection to Jeon Industries and even more so now that her nature as a Visionary is revealed...especially since her martial skills are decent for a civilian, but deplorable given the threats arrayed against her. Not wanting to force her to learn to fight, he plans to fight for her.

Of late, Damir has learned of the existence of Gods and Demons, but has shrugged this aside for the most part as unimportant save when they attack people under his protection. Of more concern to Damir is Eija's growing interest in how he acts toward Yooji and Yooji's growing interest in how he acts toward Eija. He's seen romantic situations before in Avalon and other jobs, but he's never heard of a case when two girls were each trying to push a guy at the other girl. He's seriously confused as to how to respond to this.

Uprights: Humanoid mecha ranging from 14' to 17' tall.

Scars: Damir has a half-circle scar over his left eye from where he was hit by the butt of a rifle and an electrocution scar from piloting a Russian upright with a faulty interface covering his left arm.

I'm just gonna do up one of my two successful submissions to the Fight! the Fighting Game RPG's Challengers supplement.

Helene Matisse.

For some proving themselves the strongest of all the world's fighters is the apex of achievement, and single, defining moment that is the culmination of their life's work up to that moment of perfect glory.

Helene Matisse considers it the beginning of her real life.

She did win it all, fifteen years ago, seizing the championship for France with both hands, and just as abruptly and unceremoniously quit the fighting world as soon as she had reached that highest peak of achievement. while speculation abounded here and there as to why this was so, she kept the reasoning largely to herself, and for good reason- frankly, she thought most of her peers were nuts. She had encountered one too many people on the road to victory for whom training and fighting were both the means and end to everything that was good about life, and so she vowed to never allow herself to remove herself from the whole of what the world had to offer her life. It was in those years that followed that she devoted herself wholly to the things she had missed out on during her chase to the championship. Such as getting an actual education.

And in time, marriage.

She never really gave up on her training, as it was disciplining her mind and body that allowed her to pursue life so vigorously. There were times where she had to take breaks, certainly, because there's only so much time that can be left over from having and raising kids, plus other responsibilities. The most she cared to hear from the fighting world was passing items on the sports news about previous champions.

However, when she was invited back as a "guest of honor", she couldn't pass up the second chance. While she doesn't plan on making an extended stay, she will do her best to make sure that her trophy isn't sitting on its lonesome on the shelf in her living room.

While this tall, green-haired, emerald-eyed beauty does care to encourage other fighters to do their best (maybe even offer the more scantily clad fighters a coat, depending on where the match is). She is still a fierce competitor, even though her removal from the fighting circuit means she's no longer the invincible champion she used to be. This does not mean, however, she's any less full of surprises at 36 than at 21, and there's a good chance she might just get her edge back...

While it is an astoundingly risky method of defense, Helene was well-versed in her ability to create opportunities for surprise attacks in the middle of close combat, through methods such as faking openings for her opponents to hurl themselves into. Even the dullest opponents will get wise, so this technique must be constantly revised.

Between two trees AD: 6 DX: 5, END: 5

Powerful legs built from a kicking martial art can still make for powerful and interesting options in truly close combat.

Joie de Combat AD: 7 DX: 7, END: 15

Helene shows a flash of the power that made her a champion, barraging her opponent in a withering array of kicks, which is just a tad more strenuous for her now than it used to be.

...Yeah, this is the roughest thing I could probably rough. It can be hard to convert things from systems where weaknesses just really aren't that much of a part of character creation.

I read Fight! the Fighting Game, and agree it is a hard conversion. They separate combat skills and non combat skills and give you a different pool for each. But the best advice I can give on conversions is capture the spirit of the character and do not try to bring over every little detail. From the looks of it, I think you nailed it.

I'd say that's good advice for any character conversion. If you get caught up on stuff a fictional character can do based on different stories you generally go over limits.

Gonna do some Exo-Squad.

Many people dream of flying, but what they really dream of is freedom. For Lieutenant J. T. Marsh, flying does not mean freedom- it means responsibility, for the men and women in his Exo Squad. His dream is that the war will be over, and that there will once again be open skies. -Notes of Admiral James Winfield

J.T. Marsh is the commander of the Exocarrier Resolute's Able Squad, which ended up seeing pretty much every part of the second Neo-Sapien war. He and his men were instrumental in mitigating the losses sustained in the disastrous first year of the war, as well as buying time for the survival of the human race by destroying the massive breeding facilities beneath Olympus Mons on Mars, preventing Phaeton from being able to replace humanity in the inner planets with his own kind. Marsh himself would earn the personal enmity of Phaeton himself by severely injuring him during that operation, triggering the lethal incurable Auto-Mutation Syndrome in the leader of the Neo-Sapien Order.

He is driven by a desire to end the war as quickly as possible and get his men through the war alive, his greatest fear being that he will make a mistake that will cost the lives of the men and women under his command. His passion for flight drove him to join the Exofleet, and now he must use all of its skill in its service to help save the human race from extinction.

Would you believe I was actually working on that when you posted?

After Wolf Bronski's Psych evaluation, the psych-tech conducting the interview said that "inside Wolf Bronski is a terrified little boy". Another psych tech wrote next to that- "Yeah, because Bronski ate him". -Winfield's notes.

Wold Bronski is the most experienced member of the Exocarrier Resolute's Able squad, and appears to remain in Exofleet due to sheer inertia. Too crude and slovenly to promote, and too experienced and effective to remove, Wolf Bronski continues to cling tenaciously to the bottom rung of Exofleet's organizational ladder. It's a niche that suits him well, however, as his lack of other responsibilities has allowed him to hone his combat skills to a keen edge, making him a desired, and sometimes even respected member of the team.

It's not easy to overstate how much I have watched that show. :)

But I felt that "pilot" was a bit of a gap that needed filling. There are quite a few archetypes in the book, but I do kinda feel that the lack of a mecha pilot sample character was an unfortunate omission.

My main goal with the Sample Characters was that they “play nice” together. A mecha pilot archetype, by its nature, ostracizes itself play-wise from anyone else who doesn't have a mecha.″

But happy to see someone fill in the spot, just the same! :)
