Items in OVA

How do you handle buying consumables in OVA? Not necessarily what economy system you use for shops, but how do you mechanically handle items? If a character went and bought a health potion, how would you represent it? Or if a character bought a weapon, would you create a new Attack?

Give them the limited use flaw or ammo weakness and then explain You can't use it again until you 'restock' in town. As for weapons just have them add a new attack that represents the weapon.
