The game convenes as per normal, but everything said and done is recorded (IRC probably makes this easier). I was in a game once where they had a person typing a log of events and quotes and it bogged the game down quite a bit. Play would frequently stop to let the logger catch up and we would almo...

:?: Figured i'd bump this and see what people thought. Nothing to add to it or take issue with, per se, but I think you have some good input. I have a tendancy to make these cosmetic twinks as I create things for a game. As long as the play group understands and uses the same terms, all is well. Th...

I must admit I've never heard of "Baccano!" What is that, approximately, genre-wise? What's the story? It is a character-driven story set in the 1940s-ish. The town is run by immortal gangsters and the plots of several roustabouts kind of collide into a mega-plot (like a farce with more a...

Re: Any favorite anime of 2007

I was wondering what your favorite anime were in 2007. For me: * Coyote Ragtime Show * Baccano! (not far into this one yet, but it has flair) * Hoi Hoi-san I was disappointed by "Ergo Proxy" which looked better than it was. As to doramas, I would have to say that "Sexy Voice and Robo...

Try Second-Brain Hosting. I must confess, in all honesty I do their books so I am a rleated party.

Re: OVA fantasy group run at another convention

Hmm, yes, I understand that, JuddG. Sorry if I came off condescending there. It was not a big problem to begin with. No yelling and fighting at the game table, you know. OK, I get it now. It was repeated use of the technique, not that he "stepped-on" a required escape etc. Pardon m...

Re: OVA fantasy group run at another convention

The one problem we realized at some point in the game was with Time Freeze...<snipped>It basically comes down to a situation where the GM wants to do something, and the player with Time Freeze can veto it. Either Time Freeze should be harder to do, with rock-hard limitations placed on it, or not al...

I made my own cheat sheet, but I am not sure what happened to it  . Did you already try looking at the last place you had it (or the last folder you saved it)? And, on the subject of lost and found: :!: TRUE STORY :!: I spent most of today with an itch in the small of my back and at lun...

Re: Some probablities for success with OVA dice pools

As can be seen, the proposed difficulty numbers give probabilities fairly different than the d6 dice pool. I think I find the d6 chart a bit more to my tastes. It seems to have a far better cascade than the d10 one. Of course, I am approaching this in the aesthetic manner, not in the purely mathema...

I am a major fan of FATE/SotC, so I have used a rule similar to this. It makes a game better to have a free flow of creativity surrounding the game table.

Re: Demoing OVA at conventions: Shiroi Con (9-1-2007)

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that the English edition is a translation of DSA Fourth Edition. Is that correct? It is indeed 4th Edition, which I understand to be the only edition to make it into a commercial English translation. True enough that art in games is often very different between ...

Re: Writing Stories for Playing

I want to start a thread for discussing methods of & advice for writing stories for OVA. This post on the forum is related in many ways. I am a big proponent of Indie GMing techniques, though I am still guarded on GNS and other academic considerations over at the Forge. I thinks Edwards' solid ...

Re: Demoing OVA at conventions: Shiroi Con (9-1-2007)

Was it Das Schwarze Auge ? It's been over a decade since I last played that, but it's what got me into RPGs (which led to illustration later on) at the tender age of 12 or so. Ah, the memories... The English Language version of this is "The Dark Eye" (of course, "Black Eye" is m...
