'Twas sent on Mon 1 Feb 2010 at 12:52 & 22:38 (GMT-11 hrs); the MiB in question joined the day before, so it flew under the radar.

Most (all?) of the example characters in the OVA rule book have a net +7 or so (maybe more). They're fun characters, so all's fine. The only numerics I emphasize is proper scale of the +/- (+1 is good, +2 is master, etc) so I don't get a bunch of out-of-proportion numbers on the sheets, so the +/- s...

You're welcome, Clay! :) I tried to keep things light and effective by following what OVA had already laid out (ranged, refooting, etc). I think OVA's light rules and equal use of traits for both character story AND character abilities are its strongest and most unique points, so I wouldn't want to ...

OVA Terrain Battle!

To make combat scenes more fun with terrain, say each combat setting has one or more areas to it, each area having its own feature(s) (see below). Different characters may start in different areas, depending on the story. Whenever someone uses the refooting action, they may move to a different area ...

On the 2 and 17 this month I was PMed by user Lyagushkka some spam about XRumer. This is the Wikipedia entry on it. Don't run a search it; apparently someone wants you to up its search ranking, and Lyagushkka is a robot in disguise (gasp!). I just want to help anyone else who has this problem, and I...

...That was KARIS!? :D I appreciate that picture more now knowing it was our nail-toothed space hunter in an unsteeled moment. I really like the direction OVA's heading from the looks of the blog . To add my opinion, I always find examples of characters and play useful for rules explanation. Also, t...

From what I know from looking at the OVA Revised blog , while OVA is now only released in PDF format at RPGNow , it seems Clay is aiming for OVA Revised to be released in chains like Borders and Barnes & Noble. (Hoping Clay comes to elaborate...) As for OVA now, I can tell you it's the smoothest...

Well, if you have a good printer at home...

The last update to the rulebook? Announced on the main page.

Publisher Stock #: WT1001. Your local bookstore/hobby shop may not have it in their catalog, or the hardcopy might have been discontinued. RPGnow.com, from which I ordered my hardcopy, appears to have only PDFs now.

Are there any famous lost swords to famous lost spaceships floating around? (Well, you'd have to be a descendant of its famous lost owner to pilot it...) ;) Are there any ghostships (water, space, or air) floating about, remnants of a tribe of people who opposed the current shogun? Or who succumbed ...

Writing Stories for Playing

I want to start a thread for discussing methods of & advice for writing stories for OVA. OVA is really easy to make stats for airships and items, so that phase was over real quick at my GM desk, but it (quite fittingly for an anime RPG) makes the unfinished step of concocting an engaging scenari...

Benri desu.

These're really handy examples of how to stat for my group, who've seen these characters dance around on screen beforehand. My little bros. go thru these games at maybe 50x the pace I do, so I got to see the whole story as 2 player. Only prob is that Regal has Presea's hair and eyes! Hm , I b...

Bestiary of the Aberrant

It looks like there'll be some inspiring creatures in OVA Fantasy, so I was going through some video game sprite haunts for inspiration in spawning mostly atypical creatures that I could use in the meantime. I'll probably use this in a Disgaea/Pokemon cross game (bind the monster, blow up other demo...
