Speaking of initiative, I was looking at the rules just the other day and wondering why you didn't allow for simultaneous initiative. The dual KO or simultaneous exchange of blows is definitely not unheard of in anime. It would most likely end after a round or two anyway because of the option of ref...

Revised changes, is there a master list?

Has anyone taken all the rules changes mentioned here and on the blog and compiled them into one easy to reference document?

But do get ready for people to get confused on Weapons, Martial Arts, and power moves. Oh and Hobbies. As a rule I don't allow anyone to take hobbies that work in combat because it just gets confusing. For someone new to rpg's maybe, but I wouldn't say they're so much confusing as just a bit more c...

3rd Revision: Major Changes. In an effort to simplify Attack brought inline with changes for OVA Revised Edition. Power Move removed. In short the more powerful an attack is the more endurance it cost, Drama Dice may be spent to reduce the endurance cost. See original post.

I think there's nothing that can't be done with the pieces already laid out in the corebook. Yes, you may have to be creative and extend out from those pieces, but there's no need to reinvent the wheel because your situation isn't covered. A lot of your first problem(s) could probably be solved by ...

Hurm...maybe it could fly, depending on how you put it. Characters grow as is appropriate for the type of series they're part of. Experience Points should be rewarded when growth of the characters is appropriate to the series. In some series characters steadily grow stronger, others only in leaps an...

Another random thought, transformation as a Powermove might be interesting. I might see about working that into my Dramatic Combat System, so it would have a scaling cost as the fight progressed.

This is a topic I've been giving some thought, as evidenced by this thread . The Transformation idea is an interesting one, but I feel like there are some flaws with it. You can use it to build a character that follows the typical anime trope of escalation, I'm not sure it encourages the behavior th...

If you go this route, I would suggest that you make Drame Dice an alternate award for XP in games where advancement is not really appropriate to the genre, or should at least be slower. That is to say Drama Dice shouldn't be able to be spent as XP, but they still make a suitable reward when XP is no...

2nd Revision: Servants, Flunkies, Summons, et c. do not gain Drama Dice except through Endurance Expenditure. Their master may spend Drama Dice on their behalf though.

As Clay so kindly pointed out on his blog gonzo Endurance regen, probably not a good idea.

1st Revision: Drama Dice can no longer be exchanged for 5 Endurance, but rather Drama Dice may be spent to reduce the Endurance cost of an Ability by 5 for each one spent for that use.

Dramatic Combat System

Hello all, first post here and it's going to be a long one. :) Something that I've really been looking for is a way to encourage the slow build of combat that you so often seen in manga and anime. That is to say starting small and building to the big finisher, rather than just opening with your bigg...
