Re: Your take on: Initiative

That’s correct. There’s no “cost” for rerolling your initiative. It’s just an option with the only risk being making your initiative worse. I thought it was a good compromise between rolling for it every turn and keeping it static. I forget if it was codified in the rules, but I tend to go in rever...

Re: Transformation issues

1) I'm just curious as to if it would be more situational appropriate to use the pilot's own Knowledge/Pilot Ability to line of the target or just stick with the regular combat checks found upon either the pilot or the mecha for that sort of thing. It's just one of those annoying brain farts. In ge...

Re: Transformation issues

AFAIK, are able to fire in all four modes but the fire arc of the gunpod in Fighter Mode is limited to wherever the aircraft is pointing (wait, would that be considered a combat roll or a Piloting/Knowledge dice check?). 1) I get the impression that you're treating the weapon and the user as two di...

Re: Transformation issues

A completely different way to consider VK's is that each form is just a different attack suite, much like a martial artist does can do different things when changing stances. Just slap "Requirement: X Mode" and determine how long a mode shift takes and you're good to go.

Re: Analysis of roll values (New difficulty chart inside)

Joe: Yeah, 6 is supposed to be the highest “untrained” difficulty. There’s a sharp drop after that, making them solely the territory of more skilled characters. I wish there were a good way to emphasize this in the text itself, but hopefully the fact that it doesn’t require doubles and isn’t descri...

Re: Analysis of roll values (New difficulty chart inside)

I find this interesting, but lacking in utility. If a player is rolling more than 10 dice, I have to think something has gone incredibly wrong in your game. However, it is interesting how good 6 is as a target number. If you want to favor characters with a certain ability without punishing those tha...

Re: The Passion Ability and its use

I'd just like to see if you can think of any examples of the Passion ability as applied in fiction in the same sense that Walking Arsenal is embodied by Solid Snake. Have you watched Princess Jellyfish ? If you haven't, a) go watch, b) most of the characters are what you are asking for, and c) seri...

Re: Naruto / Streetfighter, MK, DOA / LOL

On the other hand, if you want to replicate the actual mechanics of fighting games...then the answer is more maybe-ish. OVA has lots of tactical options . . . but it’s not really built to replicate aerials, juggles, combos, throws, and the like in more than a cinematic way. "I rolled a fifteen...

Clay might've just answered this on another thread. Instead of fighting an antagonist, have them use their skills against the crowd.

Re: Superhero OVA

By the way l'm thinking of using the official rules as much as possible ,so healer with self only, trigger (half health or something like that)and continual effect seems fine. The only thing that bothers me is the cost for a permanent effect. 1) I think my concept of regeneration is different than yo...
