Re: Using Tension to power special attacks, a rules idea I f
Thank you for the link. Good stuff. I love the +1 at 0 health idea. It encourages the players to save their huge 20 endurance attacks for close to the end of the fight, so they can minimize the time the bad guys spend in +1 mode. (Or for when THEY are in +1 mode) Also, it directly contradicts the ex...

Re: Using Tension to power special attacks, a rules idea I f
Honestly since I'm in complete house rule territory anyways I was thinking of replacing the entire endurance system. Something that would encourage more shonen-like battles without it just being a gentleman's word. Getting rid of the "Didja spend that endurance on drama dice or what?" part...

You say combo meter like you've seen it before. Have you? What RPG are you thinking of? Is it tabletop? I'm still intrigued by the idea and wouldn't mind seeing a different implementation.

Using Tension to power special attacks, a rules idea I found
Found this game today: http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Touhou_Danmaku_Yuugi_Flowers In defense of my sanity, I read it out of curiosity rather than desire to play. I bring it up because of its Tension system. Has anything like this been brought up before? The way it works is, when you roll a test to do...

Another option for Time Freeze is to remove its ability to give you extra actions in combat, and instead make that part of Time Freeze a Power Perk. +X (10? 20?): You can use this ability after having already acted in the round, at no penalty for multiple actions. I have a player whose character has...

What if you rolled your Time Freeze against a DN to get an extra action in the round? Exact difficulty to be determined. Does have the discomfort of adding an extra roll to every round. Another possibility is to say that time freeze offsets multiple action penalties as a unit rather than per action....

I'm giving the nonanswer. I'm pretty sure that you've defined the Barrier as extending beyond the body and not providing any grip (the obvious answer), so yes, the barrier must block the entangle. OVA's pretty flexible though. I can see someone putting points in Barrier in order to simulate a skin t...

I think my brain just gave a sigh of relief. Knowing that Flight +1 means I can gain altitude a statistically useful amount of time is invaluable. I'm new, it's a small board, thread necromancy is hard to resist, but I'm trying. However IMO this belongs on the first page. Furthermore, someone in the...
