First, don’t worry about making it an attack. Bend the rules a little… Soothing Melody Heal (page 46) Add the Area perk for an extra 10 Endurance per 3 PCs. Adjust it as you like from there. Heroic Hymn Passion Willpower Add the Area perk to both for an extra 10 Endurance per 3 PCs. Add a Special Re...

This better be an April Fool's joke, or OVA is dead to me.

That doesn’t sound unreasonable. That is what GoO did with BESM prior to its 3rd edition.

Either way, I've come to the realization this text probably reads "Lose your action THIS round." It should read the same way as knockback and other rules: "Forfeit your NEXT action." Is that “Forfeit your NEXT action to get a normal defense roll, or take the Multiple Actions opt...

Rapid Strikes House Rule

My friends and I have been playing OVA for awhile now, and we’ve come to the conclusion that the most complicated rule is the Rapid Strikes perk. It’s just too bothersome to keep track of especially if your character has already acted in a round or has taken multiple actions. We need something that ...

OVA is not for everyone. There are some friends that I will not run this system for, because they just won’t get it. It’s not because the system is too complicated but rather it’s too abstract. It’s like 1st edition BESM. It’s a game for role-players not roll-players. If your players are more inclin...

Your example brings to mind many TV shows and movies that I’ve seen where the bad guys must be fended off or delayed while the computer uploads/downloads/erases whatever. My answer is that each round will take as long as the computer (or hacker) needs to complete each stage since it is the plot devi...

As long as the GM needs it to be. I know that doesn’t sound like an answer, but it is the most accurate. It is one of those obscure rules left up to the GM’s discretion. A round to two gunslingers drawing pistols on each other might be a second long, but to a bunch of race car drivers going around a...

We (my group) interpreted that rule as half their maximum Health in damage in a single attack.

I love the idea. I've been working on my own Tomb Raider meets Lovecraft-type OVA anime.

As for a title... How about "Xenofighters"?

Why wouldn't OVA be able to handle Naruto like ninja battles? I can attest that in both the original and revised rules I have run fun and fast ninja duels between two powerful rivals and large-scale ninja minion ambushes against groups of PCs.

I don't know how you originally arrived at the DNs? If you're only using the base 2D6 roll, the Ricochet System will generate an average result of 3 or 4 (6 or 8 if you roll doubles)? I'm not a mathematician, but I know someone did a statistics chart on this forum. I guess you have to use something ...
