I ran it with adding the Landmate's Agility and the character's together.

I use the "Lose 10 health and get -1" on your rolls for some games when I run OVA to get a bit of extra grit. What's driving my current exploration is the fact that whittling away certain Qualities/Abilities felt very dramatic and concrete. I was surprised to see tactile tactical game play...

Well the thing is it sounds good on paper but results in a lot of book work mid battle. Constantly recalculating your abilities. I don't think that would be a problem. The "constant" bit is definitely subjective and malleable. If it would need to be 20 points before taking an ability hit ...

Good Lord, I hated that in PDQ your qualities (abilities) take damage instead of damage coming from a separate pool of Health with a passion. I want easily to decipher HP bars! That is why I ditched PDQ and plan to run Ninja Burger with OVA. That's okay. Keep on keepin' on. I'm looking for a way to...

The rolled up Attack ability worked out great. During the play test I could look at a character sheet for a player and I didn't have to do any processing to figure out which subsystem I was looking at. Great streamlining.

Whittling away

I've been inspired by the PDQ system and how it handles damage. In PDQ your qualities (abilities) take damage instead of damage coming from a separate pool of points. So if you take a point of damage you can reduce your Sword Fighting quality by 1 rank. Working the general concept into OVA, I'm thin...

Weapon vs. Revised Attack

Clay, I've got a quick question. Will the Weapon ability exist under the revised rules or will it be replaced by the more encompassing Attack ? I'm statting up a Veritech for a project I'm working on ( http://platonicsolid.blogspot.com/2009/06/mecha-game-requirements.html ) and would like to be as f...

That's very cool. When I was a kid I found a baby snapping turtle (Maybe 2" across) on the road near my grandpap's farm. He was so weary that when I picked him up he didn't fight. So I took him home and put him into an aquarium. By the next summer he was the size of a dinner saucer and outgrew ...

I know what you mean. I usually ask people what they want their character to be like, what they want them to do. What makes their character stand out? And then I interactively work with them to make their character. Now, that's tough to do with 5 people at the table. But I found that if I devote an ...

Well, the idea is that if it's NOT a whole lot, you should not be using scale anyway. It's to represent things that are outside of each others league. If we were talking about +2 bonuses, you might as well keep that car as a +5 Quick. I also want to keep it simple. 5 is easy to remember because it'...

I'll have to take another look at the Vehicle ability. How you're describing how to handle the vehicles is exactly how I did it with Guges Landmates. Worked beautifully. I'm thinking about adding just a bit of grit to how I handle mecha. The plan right now is to break Health and Endurance down into ...

Best approach to build a Veritech?

Hi all, I'm seriously running a Robotech game with OVA. The issue comes down to handling the scale of Mecha. I've had great success running an Appleseed-esque game with powersuits and Landmates. But those operate on a smaller scale that easily overlaps with personal scale effects. I'm thinking about...

Is there an ETA on the reboot?

I know what it's like to work on a book. I've been doing it for over a year myself.
