Re: Specializations
I can live with this. If chars are well rounded, combat expert suffices and if there is one who ought to be unilaterally proficient, knowledge might be the addition I need. So to me it appears, the game can be scaled to my liking. If I want an easy approach less and diversified abilities seem to be ...

Re: Specializations
Then again a detail escaped me while quickly reading from cover to cover. This Ability covers the method of attacking in general, rather than any single weapon or fighting style. To specialize in a specific combat technique, choose it as a Knowledge instead . Does instead imply that combat expert is...

Re: Specializations
1) Give her Strong +2 and Attack +2 and link Attack to a Focus Weakness. Without her gloves, her 3 DX bonus is still achieved by virtue of Strong alone. 2) Give her Strong +1, Attack +1, and create a Gear with Attack +2. Without her gloves, she still has 3 DX from both Strong and Attack, but she te...

Re: Questions about the Core Rulebook
I think you're describing two different cases of spellcasting or otherwise misunderstanding an ability or two. Slowly, I guess, I figure the mechanics for casting out. To even get a better grip of spellcasting, I list a couple of spells and try to figure the maths out. - Acacia's Devil’s Breath on ...

Re: Questions about the Core Rulebook
- Next topic: Ability Smart p.61 The description states: You can roll your Smart dice when [...] casting spells [...] In my understanding, those Smart dice would replace Agile, as is common with many systems regarding arcane magic. I might understand that clumsy could hamper somatic casting, but sma...

Specializations
How would you handle specialization in an universal ability? For the sake of simplicity I don't apply Perks/Flaws. For example, there is a PC who is a capable fighter (combat expertise +1) with melee weapons, but excels especially with swords. For swords his close combat ought to be +3. My aproach w...

Re: Questions about the Core Rulebook
But its easy to ignore or work around it, something I would like other systems to do. This is a great little game. Definitely, the flexibility of this "little" book is impressive. Yet there has been no question unanswered. For my plans (Power Rangers) it works flawlessly, from Morphin (Tr...

Re: Questions about the Core Rulebook
I guess both of you are right, this villain would be a post-creation NPC with many XP on his back.
Though personally I would've made a critter of his prominence a boss.

Re: Questions about the Core Rulebook
This would make sense if Shadowman were a boss like Scarabrous, but he is referred to as a heroic. Maybe Clay can grant us some additional insight? Especially according to loosing more than one ability with his focus I could imagine very well, that the focus might be multiplied. After all he looses ...

Questions about the Core Rulebook
I use this thread as a kind of wrapper for all rule questions I have and didn't find any answers yet in other threads. Okay, here I go with my first question, about Shadowman on p. 136. That dude has insanely abilities (36) against weaknesses (17). As he is heroic the difference shouldn't be greater...

Health & Endurance
According to p. 107 a PC is only defeated if both, endurance and health are drained. What about NPCs? Do they also endure until both are drained or are they already beaten if health reaches zero?

Re: New OVA Game Looking for players -Beyond those we call s
Definitely interested in watching a recorded session!
Is this offer still up? I'm new to OVA and would love to see this system in action and the setting sounds like a lot of fun.

Oh, thanks for the info, I like both Doom and Dead Space.
Are there possibly any roll20.net groups who would give this a try?

Re: Horror/Madness mechanisms
A very interesting one and it rekindled my desire to play in the Mass Effect setting.Malancthon wrote:If you haven't checked out this thread yet, I'd recommend taking a look see.
Is there by chance an OVA version of that intruiging setting?
